Why DVM ?

DVM or Dedicated Virtual Machine is a new concept that as the name implies is almost a dedicated server. The novelty is in the fact that it has a dedicated SATA drive. Each DVM runs on its own dedicated Hard Drive therefore not sharing HD resources.

Why does having a dedicated HD make a difference?

Actually it makes a huge difference since most processing bottlenecks are often due to limited HD I/O speeds. The issue becomes more critical when it is combined with other VM’s sharing the same HD and if any of them are very I/O demanding then it will slow down the VM no matter how much CPU and RAM it has allocated.

What about the CPU and RAM resources?

The DVM is built on a XEN platform and therefore the CPU and RAM resources have hard limits. This means that the allocated resources are always available. Also due to the physical structure of the nodes there is up to a maximum of 7 DVM’s per 8 core node but most often only 3-5 on 4 core nodes. This in itself is an extreme performance advantage.

What additional services come with a DVM?

They are built on a LxCenter platform and they come with a complete control panel for complete management. It is possible to rebuild and reboot the system as often as needed from the complete panel.

How can you offer them at such competitive prices? Is there a catch?

We are able to offer them at low prices because they are self-managed systems and we operate on very low margins.
